BRAZIL- GOVERMENT MAKES A PUBLIC CONSULTANTION TO IMPROVE THE HONEY PRODUCTION SYSTEM
The coordinator of apicultural projects in the Sebrae Nationwide , Reginaldo Resende said that the country will have rules of procedure that will cover the apicultural chain. The proposed rules for the production system in the countryside, is in the public consultation process. The study is being prepared by the Sebrae, by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT, the Brazilian Confederation of Beekeeping and the Apicultural Temporary Commission Study. They explained that the idea was to establish parameters according to the system of production of honey. These rules include managing the production, harvesting, transport, extraction and equipment.

AUSTRALIA- SCIENTISTS DISCOVERS THE SECRET BEHIND THE ROYALTY OF THE BEES
The secret of the realm of bees may be minimal details, according to researchers from Australia. A group of scientists succeeded in discovering such as Royal Jelly was able to affect the offspring to decide who will be queen and who will be a worker: Altering the genome directly from the insect. When the larvae are fed with royal jelly, the genome released a series of genes, through a process known as 'DNA methylation' which had already been observed in mammals. The methylation of the gene produces liberation, indeed, a molecule that with the board and alter its operation.

ENGLAND- THE PRESIDENT OF THE BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION REQUEST GOVERMENT SUPPORT FOR INVESTIGATION
Tim Lovett wrote: It is accepted by the Government that honey bees contribute about £165 million per annum to agricultural output, for which beekeepers are not paid. It is to be regretted that at present Defra is unwilling to find the modest funding needed to increase research into honey bee health, which is urgently needed, to enable us to meet the growing list of threats to bee health, their ultimate survival and contribution to agriculture and the environment.

MACEDONIA- COURT CONVICTS BEAR OD STAELING HONEY
A court convicted a bear of theft and damage for stealing honey from a beekeeper who fought off the attacks with thumping 'turbo-folk' music. 'I tried to distract the bear with lights and music because I heard bears are afraid of that,' Zoran Kiseloski told top-selling daily Dnevnik after the year-long case of the bear vs. the beekeeper ended in the beekeeper's favour. A court in the city of Bitola found the bear guilty, and since it had no owner and belonged to a protected species, ordered the state to pay the 140,000 denars (US$3,500) damage it caused to the hives.

CUBA- MORE HONEY PRODUCTION IN CIEGO DE AVILA
By collecting 80 tonnes of honey between January and February, beekeepers in Ciego de Avila started the new year with results above expectations. The contribution of the basic units of production cooperative (UBPC) and the peasants was double what occurred in the same period in 2007, despite the lack of fuel and wood for making the apiaries.

SLOVENIA- APICULTURAL MUSEUM
The Cebularski Muzej (Beekeeping Museum), in the baroque Thurn Manor in the tiny, well-preserved 400-year-old town center of Radovljica, less than 10 kilometers from Bled. The museum focuses on the Carniolan bee (prized for its gentleness -- it won't attack humans unless its home is threatened) and local beekeepers who, by the 16th century, had pioneered a form of apiculture in which wooden hives are stacked together in several rows and housed under one roof.
