Regulation (EC) 282/2008 on recycled plastic materials and articles was adopted on 27/03/2008. This regulation is setting out the requirements for recycled plastics to be used in food contact materials and establishes an authorisation procedure of recycling processes used in the manufacture of recycled plastics for food contact use. It establishes requirements as regards the materials that can be recycled and the efficiency of recycling process to reduce contamination. Recycling processes shall be evaluated by the European Food Safety Authority as regards their ability to produce safe recycled plastics. Recycling processes shall be managed by an adequate quality assurance system.

The seminar is sponsored by the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service.
