ENGLAND- IN THE EAST OF THE COUNTRY CROPS THREATENED BY VANISHING HONEY BEES
According to the National Farmers' Union the bees are critical to pollinating many of Lincolnshire's crops, including oilseed rape, borage and linseed. This week the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs announced a consultation on ways to save Britain's honey bees. The British Beekeepers' Association (BBKA) welcomed news of the new consultation. In a statement the BBKA said: 'Pollination, largely by honey bees, contributes £165m a year (US$ 328 millons) to the agricultural economy.
