USA- WEST VIRGINIA IMPORTS BEES FOR CROPS POLLINATION
West Virginia's honeybees have experienced difficult times due to drought and freeze in recent years, conditions that have depleted bee and hive numbers in the state. But with $200,000 in apiary assistance provided by the West Virginia Legislature in the 2007 legislative session, the state is importing honeybees from Georgia this year in a move that should ensure there are sufficient numbers to amply pollinate crops in the future, including important tree types.The first shipment of replacement bees arrived in the state on April 23.

SPAIN- WOULD SELL CERTIFIED HONEY IN CANARY ISLANDS

BRAZIL- TRIES TO STRUCTURE BEEKEEPING IN AMAPA
Macapá City Beekeepers Association (Apimac) and Sebrae defined actions of structuring the project Honey of Amapá. The methodology entitled Strategic Management for Results Oriented (Geor), developed by Sebrae monitoring the project, to achieve positive results. The manager of the project, Antonio Rosa says that one of the main foci of Sebrae is on the marketing and export of honey.

BRAZIL- MORE THAN 2,000 APIARIES IN RIO DE JANEIRO
The Rio de Janeiro state has more than two thousand apiaries who rely on the work of 1,400 beekeepers, distributed in 72 municipalities. The data are part of the first Apicultural Census with Geo reference conducted by the Federal Superintendency of Agriculture in Rio de Janeiro (SFA / RJ), the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (map).

BRAZIL- HONEY BOARD MEETS AT THE MATO GROSSO DO SUL STATE

MEXICO- ANALYSIS OF THE HONEY FROM THE YUCATAN PENINSULA
The Secretariat of Agriculture and Fisheries Development through the Department of Beekeeping participated in the 'Yucatan Peninsula encounter about honey and Diversity', which aimed to characterize and publicize the diversity of honeys of the peninsula. This event was held this weekend in the city of Campeche. The number of beekeepers in Michigan has fallen drastically. Twenty-five years ago, there were around 420 commercial beekeepers in the state. Today, the number is less than 50.
