SPAIN- THE WINNERS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC CONTEST OF THE APICULTURAL CLASS OF AZUQUECA DE HENRAES
The Danish, Hjordis Klüb, Seville, Diego Martin, and Slovenian, Bo_tjan Grom, have been the victors in the first three prizes of the VII Iinternational Aapicultural photography contest that convenes the council of Azuqueca. de Henares. SPAIN- LACK OF RAINS AND LOW TEMPERATURES ARE WORRING THE BEEKEEPERS

AUSTRALIA- BEEKEEPERS MEETING
Beekeepers from the New England and North West will meet in Nelson Bay today with other honey producers looking for a little love in return for their sweetness. Many could soon quit the industry unless the large supermarket chains start paying more for honey. Beekeepers are receiving as little as A$2 (US$ 1.92) per kilogram for a product supermarkets are selling for between A$8 (US$ 7.70) and A$10 ( US$ 9.60)per kg.

CANADA- THE MISTERY OF THE BRITISH COLUMBIA ´S DYING BEES
The annual mortality survey conducted this spring by Mr. van Westendorp's department found average winter losses in B.C. to be 30 per cent, based on responses from beekeepers who own half of the province's 50,000 colonies. The highest colony losses - 58 per cent - were recorded in the Central North-Peace area and the lowest losses, about 15 per cent, in the Kootenay and South Okanagan areas. Last year, the loss rate averaged 23 per cent.

AUSTRALIA- BEEKEEPING INSTITUTE OFFER TRAINEES TO THE HONEY PRODUCERS
Central Victoria's $70 million honey industry is getting the backing of Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE with an offer to help local employers who take on beekeeping trainees. New government incentives mean many local employers may now be eligible for payments to take on trainees. BRIT has developed seven specialty courses aimed at both hobby and commercial beekeepers. The courses include beekeeping, honey extraction, queen bee breeding, bee pollination services, Nosema disease management for pollination services, Varroa management and a business-related course.
