CUBA- ORGANIC HONY PRODUCTION
A notable increase in the production of organic honey was reported by co-ops in the easternmost province of Guantanamo, which have nearly doubled projected production amounts for this time of year. More than 40 tons of organic honey cuba produced. A representative of the Agricultura de Montaña group, Fernando Trenzado, told ACN that before the end of this year, 2008, more than 100 tons of ecological honey are expected to be collected in Guanatanamo, the first province in the country to produce it.

NEW ZEALAND- AMHA BRAND MANAGER JOHN RAWCLIFFE RESPONDS TO MANUKA HEALTH TEST CLAIMS
'The Active Manuka Honey Association (AMHA) refutes claims made today by former member Manuka Health Limited that the rating test for the antibacterial effectiveness of UMF® honey gives varying results for the same batch of honey. 'The 50% variance claim is simply not true for the majority of natural UMF® honey. AMHA is concerned where natural honey is adulterated. 'Initial research shows that at lower levels of UMF® honey there is no measurable methylglyoxal component.

CANADA- BEGINERS BEEKEEPING COURSE IN ALBERTA

USA- PLAN TO ESTABLISH 100 NEW BEEKEEPERS IN OHIO
The Don Myers Eastern Ohio Apiculture Project, has the goal of assisting and establishing 100 new beekeepers with two complete colonies of honey bees plus the necessary material and basic supplies needed to maintain the beehives.
