AUSTRALIA- APICULTURAL CONFERENCE
The West Australian Beekeeping State Conference will be held in Perth over two days from this Friday.The conference will focus on the decline of the world's honeybee population.The industry has invited speakers from Chile and the United States to discuss how serious diseases and pests are affecting their industry.

MEXICO- DU TO A FREE TRADE AGREEMENT THE HONEY EXPORTS WERE DUPLICATED
The Free Trade Agreement with the European Union opened market to Mexican agricultural products that have entrenched market in that region, mainly to Germany, France and Spain. This is the case of Mexican exports of honey, orange juice and avocado which came to taste Europe since the signing of the TLCUE in July 2000. Data from the Ministry of Agriculture show that from 2003 to 2007, honey exports to this region doubled to reach 23 thousand tons. In the case of orange juice tripled last year and closed at 600 tonnes.

CANADA- CARRIES BEES TO POLINATE TO NEW BRUNSWICK PROVINCE
Bees are brought to New Brunswick to pollinate wild blueberry crops because there aren't enough bees to do the job, says Paul Vautour, president of the New Brunswick Beekeepers Association. Vautour said Monday that New Brunswick has about 9,000 hives. Bees are shipped great distances to pollinate important cash crops. New Brunswick produces 9.3 million pounds (3,906 tons) of wild blueberries every year, about 16 per cent of the total in Canada.

PORTUGAL- BEEKEEPING IN THE AGRARIAN FAIR OF PORT MONIZ
Beekeeping will mark again presence in another edition of the Agricultural Fair in Porto Moniz, according to tradition. The event this year will run between 11 and July 13. The promoter of this space will be the experienced beekeeper, Carlos Pestana that last year was a large and enthusiastic promoter of an exhibition on the sector, which was reflected between May and July, the Living Science Centre Porto Moniz. The show was supported by regional entities and beekeepers and had a large participation.

BRAZIL- MUNICIPALITY DELIVERS MORE THAN 70 BEEHIVES THROUGHT THE HONEY PROYECT IN RIO GRANDE DO NORTE
The community of Santa Maria, Municipality of Upanema is the new community covered by Honey Project. The project is a partnership between Petrobras, through the Zero Hunger program, City Upanema Foundation Support CEFET - RN, through teachers, interns and fellows. The unit installed in Santa Maria, the Prefecture Upanema donated 70 hives, in addition to the 80 that were purchased with project funds. In addition to hives, also surrendered personal protective equipment and technical assistance, with lectures on the practice of beekeeping.

CANADA- HIGHWAY CLOSED BY THE BEES
A truck carrying an estimated 12 million bees (aprox 240 beehives)tipped on its side Monday in St. Leonard, N.B., sending swarms of angry insects into the air. Curious onlookers and reporters were stung as beekeepers took several hours to collect the bees and load their hives onto a second truck. The Trans-Canada Highway was reopened to traffic around 1:30 (local time) Tuesday morning.

USA- HEARTHLAND APICULTURE SOCIETY ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Hosted by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, at Marshall University Huntingtong ( W. Va.) campus from july 10 to 12, 2008, is expected to attract about 300 beekeepers, 40-50 presenters and 12 vendors, according to Dan O?Hanlon, conference coordinator co-chair along with Wade Stiltner, a bee inspector with the Department of Agriculture.
