BRAZIL GOVERMENT PROMOTES ORGANIC PRODUCTS
The federal government will be promoting, as of this Friday (23), the II Week of Organic Foods in many Brazilian states. According to the general coordination for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Agriculture, Rogério Dias, the aim of the campaign is to stimulate responsible consumption of foods.

SPANISH BEEKEEPING COMPANY ' APICOLA DEL MONTORO' WINS A PRIZE
The company Apícola de Montoro, dedicated to the honey and derivates´ production and packaging, has been the winner of the Prize Iberian Lynx 2005, that grants the governing meeting of the Natural Park Mountain range of Cardeña and Montoro. The act concluded with the delivery of an artistic reason related to the natural park to the company mgr. Mr. Lorenzo Ruiz , that thanked for the obtaining of this award and pleaded for the importance of the pollinizatión in the field.

PROBLEMS FOR BRAZIL DUE TO LACK OF TRACEABILITY
The Brazilians may be favourites to retain the World Cup in soccer but they are way down the league when it comes to traceability of their beef. Deputy Harkin said that we need to ensure food security for EU citizens and we need the assurance of quality and traceability of imports consistent with the standards required of EU producers'.

FAO DETAILS PROBLEMS DUE TO LACK OF AGREEMENT ON TRACEABILITY
Problems still exist at the international level in coming to an agreement on global traceability standards for the food and fish trade, according to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Arturo Hatrick from Apitrack® presented a paper about these standards in the VIII Iberoamerican Beekeeping Congress in Pastrana Spain (2006).

IN USA TRUCKED BEES ESCENCIAL FOR POLLINATION
Without trucked-in bees, New England's $121 million crop of cranberries, blueberries, and apples would likely crash because there aren't enough wild bees to pollinate all the fields. But the honeybee is locked in a two-decade battle with a parasite that has sliced the nation's commercial hives by one-third and appears to have wiped out much of the wild honeybee population. Now, frustrated with the parasites' ability to develop widespread resistance to the chemicals designed to kill them, the US Department of Agriculture, scientists, and beekeepers are racing to develop new weapons.
